Get To Know Hannah
Calm Under Pressure
Hannah C. Sommers is a skilled and effective Divorce and Family Law attorney, working exclusively in those practice areas since 2013.
Hannah is recognized by attorneys and judges as a leading practitioner. Hannah is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). AAML Fellows are some of the most prestigious and well-respected Family Law attorneys in the United States. AAML is a national organization admitting only those attorneys adhering to the highest standards of practice and ethics. To be admitted to the AAML, Hannah completed a rigorous application process which included interviews, obtaining references from attorneys and judges, requiring votes of approval by local and national boards, and passing a National Exam. Hannah has also been listed as a Great Plains Rising Star by SuperLawyers® every year from 2017-2024, a recognition only awarded to 2.5% of up-and-coming lawyers.
Hannah focuses her litigation practice exclusively on high-conflict marital dissolution actions, custody disputes, modification actions, and the identification and division of complex marital assets. While Hannah is comfortable handling cases in the courtroom when settlement options have been exhausted, she is also a skilled, proactive, and solutions-focused negotiator. Hannah is a certified collaborative divorce attorney and a member of the Nebraska Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is also a trained mediator and she enjoys the process of facilitating agreements between parties seeking an amicable resolution to their legal matters.
Hannah has a gift for connecting with people. Her passion for educating clients as they progress through each stage of their case sets her apart. She knows the importance of communicating clearly about the nuances of the law and procedure. Hannah’s commitment to her clients drives her practice.
Combined with her thorough preparedness, Hannah’s approach to each case is tailored and strategic. Hannah represents a wide variety of clients, including business owners and executives, physicians, lawyers, real estate professionals, salespeople, 9 AM – 5 PM employees of a variety of industries and professions, and stay-at-home moms and dads. Hannah routinely represents clients in cases involving spousal support, child support, property division, child custody, and parenting time issues. In addition, Hannah specializes in cases that involve determination of income with complex compensation structures, as well as the valuation of business interests in privately held businesses.
Hannah proudly serves as member of the Board of Directors for Legal Aid of Nebraska (an amazing non-profit organization offering free civil legal services to qualifying individuals in need). Hannah is also a member of the House of Delegates for the Nebraska State Bar Association, a member of the Executive Committee for the Family Law Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association, and she is an active member of the Omaha Bar Association (of which her husband, Dave, is the Executive Director!).Â
Hannah grew up in Kansas City (the Kansas side), before attending the University of Missouri to obtain her degree in Broadcast Journalism. Prior to entering the practice of law, Hannah worked as a television broadcast news anchor and news reporter for NBC stations in Columbia, Missouri and Topeka, Kansas.
